I received an e-mail from a reader who was debating whether or not to paint her home Revere Pewter or Accessible Beige. I have used both Revere Pewter and Accessible Beige as main colors throughout my home and can say both are fantastic choices.
If I had to choose one right now though, I would choose Revere Pewter. I will tell you the reason why.
Before I do, let me show you a few pictures of Accessible Beige. Each picture is obviously taken in different lighting and looks very different in each room.
Accessible Beige by Sherwin-Williams
Accessible Beige and Snowbound by Sherwin-Williams. It is a good greige. In some lighting it definitely looks more gray.
In other lights it looks more beige, as seen in this picture.
Accessible Beige in this cute nursery. Again, more beige here.
Accessible Beige in our last home. We used it in all of our main living areas and it was a perfect neutral. It went well with our other colors we used in our home and it warm and inviting.
My only complaint – it had pink undertones in certain lights which I did not like.
Revere Pewter by Benjamin Moore
When building our house last year, I sampled dozens of colors before deciding on our main paint color. I even changed my mind after painting 15 gallons on the wall, which you can read more about here. I’m so glad we went with the color that we did, here’s why.
- I love that it doesn’t have any pink, purple, or blue undertones. I sampled soo many grays and for any of you that have done the same, you know that it’s really hard to find a shade that doesn’t pick up those undertones in certain lights.
- Revere Pewter is a warm greige. As you can see from the pictures below, we painted the ceilings and the walls the same color, which I feel keeps the whole space warm and inviting.
- It has the perfect Light Reflective Value. As I just mentioned, we used it in our main living area and ceiling, and also on our upstairs hallway, a bedroom, and a bathroom with no natural light. It doesn’t look too dark or too light in any of the spaces we have it in.
Here are a few pictures from our home that can give you a good idea of what Revere Pewter looks like in different lighting and spaces.
Bottom line: I would choose Revere Pewter again in a heartbeat, mostly for the reasons that I mentioned above. My number one favorite thing about this paint color is that it looks good in all lights. Accessible Beige bugged me in certain areas because of the pink undertones it had. Revere Pewter does not have the pink undertones in it like Accessible Beige and I have never looked at it and thought, I don’t like it there.
That is my two cents on Revere Pewter and Accessible Beige. I hope that my experiences can help someone else who is trying to decide between these two paint colors. It can be agonizing, I know. 😉
